The Raichand mansion glowed softly that night. The air was thick with unspoken hopes—his mother’s prayers, his family’s expectations, and a wife’s quiet dream of love.

For the first time since their marriage, Arjun had agreed to go out with Kavya. A small dinner date—just them. It felt like a beginning. Gayatri, his grandmother had smiled in relief, Meera, his mother had hope, while Urmila bua had watched in quiet displeasure.

"Yeh saree pehni beta,"  Urmila said sweetly, handing Kavya a beautifully folded crimson saree. "Arjun ko yeh rang bahut pasand hai."

Kavya’s eyes sparkled. "Sach mein, Bua?"

"Bilkul."  Urmila nodded.

She didn’t know that the saree once belonged to Aarohi.

Hours later, when Arjun entered the room, his breath caught. For a fleeting heartbeat, he saw her—his Aarohi—standing there. The same soft drape. The same color that once made him believe in love.

And then, reality struck like a knife. It wasn’t her. It was Kavya.

"Main kaisi lag rahi hoon?" she asked, her voice full of warmth and hope.

His gaze darkened. "Yeh saree tumne kyu pehni hai?"

"Kya matlab? Aaj hum date par ja rahe hai, to mujhe sabse achha dikhna tha... kitni sundar saree hai..."she said with a shy smile.

Before she could blink, he crossed the room, gripping her arms tightly.

"Tumhe kya lagta hai.. yeh saree pehen kar tum Aarohi ki jagah le sakti ho?"he gritted through his teeth, his voice trembling with suppressed pain.

Kavya froze. "Dekhiye aap—"

"CHUP!!...ekdam chup!"he shouted, his anger echoing through the walls.

Her eyes filled with tears, confusion lacing every breath. She didn’t know what she had done wrong, only that something in him broke again tonight.

As he walked away, slamming the door behind him, Kavya stood still—her view blurred by tears.

She touched the saree gently, her heart cracking with realization.

"Main unki jagah nahi lena chahti..."she whispered to the empty room,

"Main bas unke zakhm bharna chahti hoon."
